A4682802 Basil is a lovable 4-year-old black-and-tan neutered male German Shepherd who was adopted from the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a puppy in March 2014 and has just been returned because his owner lost their home. Weighing 68 lbs, Basil savors human attention and especially appreciates a good belly rub. He has an adorably funny streak--it’s as if he wants to make people laugh. Sadly, Basil appears to have spent a lot of time outdoors; one indication of this is that his ears are quite damaged by fly strikes. He also has had something happen to one of his eyes—it appears somewhat closed and may be painful (the shelter vet noted that he isn’t sure what is causing the issue and that Basil doesn’t like having his face touched in that area). In spite of all this good-natured guy appears to have been through, he is all smiles and really well-behaved. He trots politely beside you when walking and seems to be housebroken. He is also friendly around other dogs; he enjoyed meeting another German Shepherd while out with our volunteers, along with some tiny dogs. Basil will be an amazingly loyal and funny best friend as an indoor pet and companion for any person or family who wants an extra-special dog. We hope a true forever family steps up and spoisl him the way he deserves.
