She wanted to study. That was simply her dream. But even that simple dream was taken away from her, when her family decided to get her married at 14. From Kanpur she shifted into her husband's home in the small village of Dharara in Benares. Life was tough; Shabeena felt trapped in the four walls. This went on for six years, until a school opened in Shabeena's village. And she got an opportunity to teach girls at the school that however was several kilometres away from her home. "Are you out of your mind? Will you ride the cycle wearing burkha," her family yelled at her. Her entire village turned against her. But Shabeena was not the one to stop, not her cycle, not her mission. Thanks to what she is doing today, several girls are transforming their tomorrows.
